在稳压供电工况下，当输入的电压出现波动时，装置通过输入输出电量采样系统获取反馈电压，再经稳压控制器判断、处理输出电压补偿控制指令，控制调压器碳刷架上升下降，调节补偿变压器主回路的正反电压补偿量，从而达到稳压输出目的，即当输入电压低时，控制电压正补偿（补偿电压与输入电压相位相同叠加），当输入电压高时，控制电压负补偿（补偿电压与输入电压相位相反相减）。岸电稳压装置基本原理框图如下：

岸电稳压装置具有直接供电和稳压供电两种供电方式。

直接供电：操作柜门上的直接供电按钮，稳压装置进入直接供电状态。

稳压供电：操作柜门上的稳压供电按钮，稳压装置进入稳压供电状态；选择稳压方式可自动稳压或手动稳压，自动稳压时稳压装置由控制器控制稳压，手动稳压时，操作柜门上的升压按钮或降压按钮可进行升降压控制。
